Other Projects

QueenFare

QueenFare is a fictional company that delivers farmers’ market produce and baked goods to people living in the Cincinnati area. This project was created at the intersection of my love for design, animation, and locally-sourced food. For this shorter project, I designed two social media templates and created an animation combining 2D and 3D elements. With this animation, I explored custom shading techniques in Blender and dynamic text in After Effects.

For another similar branding-related project, see Soyful Studios.

Client Animation

I’ve built my own side business through my artistic skill set by illustrating and animating profile pictures, avatars, banners, and digital stickers. Having completed over 100 commissions for more than 70 unique customers, I’d like to walk through my process for one of them. My workflow is divided into four phases: (1) I present the keyframes to the client, (2) I show them a rough version of the in-between animation, (3) I complete the line art, and (4) I add color. Throughout each stage, I incorporate client feedback while also setting clear expectations. Larger revisions are encouraged early on, as major changes become more difficult to implement later in the animation process.

More Client Animation

Here’s a look at some of my other animation work for clients.

3D Animation

This animation titled ‘Feedback Loop’ was a submission to the ARTificial Intelligence Student Response Exhibition at the Richard and Carole Cocks Art Museum. It was accepted and put on display during the Fall of 2024. Here is my artist's statement:

“This piece uses 3D software to explore what it means to be conscious. The line that separates our wired minds made of meat and a digital neural network is thin, and at some point, we must consider giving robots human rights if they become advanced enough. For now, we can enjoy the feedback loop, but soon our society’s mannerisms may be looked down upon by Artificial Super Intelligence as a silly cyclical feud.”

This animation is called ‘Goblin in a Cage’, and it was inspired by the art style from The Amazing World of Gumball.

First, I modeled the cage in blender and simulated a falling animation. Then, I brought it into Toon Boom Harmony, where I animated the characters overtop of the scene. I exported the 2D animation as a PNG sequence and brought it back into Blender where I re-rendered the scene again. This is how I got the reflections of the goblin and the human to show up in the cage’s glossy surface.

Illustrations

Many of the illustrations below are part of the DTIYS trend—it stands for Draw This In Your Style. It's a popular art challenge where artists share an original artwork, and other artists are invited to redraw it, which creates fun interpretations of the same artwork. I still like to find ways to connect with my community even in the online space.
